Where are my maps stored?

All maps are stored locally on your Mac, in your chosen library folder. The default location is ~/Documents/KloniMaps. You can change this in Settings → General → Library Folder.

Kloni never uploads your maps to any server. Everything stays on your device.

How do I back up my maps?

Copy your library folder to any backup destination — an external drive, iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or any other storage. Each map is a self-contained .kloni folder with all its content inside, so copying the folder is a complete backup.

If you use Time Machine, it will back up your library automatically as long as it's in a location Time Machine covers.

Does Kloni work offline?

Yes, fully. Kloni is a local-first app — all features are available with no internet connection. The only features that reach the network are ones you trigger yourself: the optional URL title fetch (when you paste a link into a node), importing from a link — a web page, a YouTube video, a Google Maps place — and the in-app feedback form. Nothing is sent anywhere in the background.

How do I move my library to a new Mac?

Copy your library folder to the new Mac — via AirDrop, an external drive, or any cloud storage. Then open Kloni on the new Mac, go to Settings → General → Library Folder, and point it to wherever you placed the folder. All maps, notes, tags, and attachments will be there.

I accidentally deleted a map. Can I recover it?

Maps deleted from the Library Browser are moved to the macOS Trash, not permanently deleted. Open Finder, go to the Trash, find the .kloni folder, and drag it back to your library folder to restore it. Links from other maps reconnect on their own when the map comes back. If the map was open at the time, the tab offers to save it back to the library instead — the copy in memory is still intact.
